How to create a customized 3D object

The simplest way to create a customized 3D object with ArredoCAD is to select the command “Manually drawn element” in the drop-down menu Options (fig. 1).

This command allows creating simple polygons that you can extrude along a path (solid thickness) to transform them into 3D solids. Generally used to create not to complex objects like false ceilings, masonry elements, shelves, small bookcases etc. Once the command is activated, click on the first point of the polygon you would like to create and then on the following points that make up its vertices (fig. 2-4). If the lines of the polygon are orthogonal to each other activate the commandthat you can find on the toolbar.

In the creation phase it is possible to type the measurement of the single line directly from the keyboard (fig. 5-6) or delete the last point clicked with the right mouse button. Especially in the case of curved lines, it can be useful to insert a curved reference element to 'trace' for the creation of the polygon. In this case press the F2 key to transform the vertices of the element used as reference into snap points easily clickable with the mouse.

After creating the penultimate side of the polygon (fig. 7) press Enter on the keyboard to create the last closing side (fig. 8).

Now you need to indicate the direction and extension of any texture that will be applied on the object. To do it, click on a point (fig. 9), always with the Orthogonal command activated, move the mouse in horizontal or vertical direction and then click on a second point to close the line (fig. 10).

The thickness of the solid must be indicated in the next window in millimetres. Pressing OK the newly created solid will be displayed in the Element Properties window from which you can directly apply a texture by clicking on 3D Components (fig. 11) > Browse and selecting a texture (fig. 12-14).

There are other tools in ArredoCAD that allow you to create shapes and 3D objects with more complex forms, such as the command Draw Shape that you can select from the menu Options but they deserve a deeper study. It is recommended to view the video tutorials of the Video Manual and the instructions in the article concerning this specific command.
