To create a false ceiling you can use 2 different methods according the shape of the ceiling. If the ceiling has a regular shape you can use a 3D box “wall color” that you can find in the elements library>Common accessories>Construction polygons>3D Objects (fig. 1). Please note that in the folder “3D objects” you can also find other types of solids with triangular or curved faces that can be used to be combined in order to create more complex solids. You can insert a 3D box and match it to the wall you like in front view, then double-click the box to open the window showing the characteristics of this object and to be able to change the measures.

The window showed in the fig. 2 will appear. Here you can modify the measures Dim. X (Width), Dim. Y (Depth) and Dim. Z (Height). You can change the value “Pos. Z” to set the distance between the ceiling and the ground. Pos. X is the distance from the left corner and the Pos. Y is the distance from the right corner. Alternatively, it is possible to make the object smaller or bigger using the command “Scale elements”. With this command it is not possible to set measures manually but just to hook to wall/object hooking points showed by default in the projects. You can also modify the position of the box upwards/downwards/leftwards/rightwards. You can find both commands on the side tool bar on the left.

Below you can see an example of what you can create (fig. 3):

The second method can be used when the false ceiling or, actually, any kind of 3D element, has a regular shape. You can activate the command clicking on “Options” (on the upper command bar> “Manually drawn element”) (fig. 4).

="" (fig.4)

The command allows to create some customized shapes that can be extruded according to different height. Click on an initial point (fig. 5). Set the direction of the first segment (fig. 6) and click on a second point. Alternatively you can set the length of the segment and confirm clicking on OK or pressing the Enter key on the keyboard. If the sides of the polygon are orthogonal, activate the command on the upper command bar. If you make a mistake during the creation of the object you can “undo” the latest operation carried out and go back to the previous status clicking on the right mouse button. Draw the other sides of the polygon repeating the same operations (fig. 7). The command “Manually drawn element” is active until you press the Enter key to draw the latest side of the polygon.

Then, you can click on 2 points of the polygon, one next to the other (fig. 8) to draw a line. In this way you set the direction of eventual textures to be applied to the polygon.

="" (fig.8)

Once clicked on the second point to set the direction, a window will automatically appear. In this window you can set the thickness of the solid and click OK to confirm. Another window showing the characteristics of the polygon will automatically open (fig. 9): here you can click on “3D Components” to select and apply a texture to your polygon if you would like to use a different color compared to the one used by default for walls.

In the example showed below you can see what you can create (fig. 10):
